Why 10%?

We ask for all to donate 10% of their charitable giving to the ocean because it is both ambitious and achievable. A tenfold increase on today’s flows would genuinely help turn the tide from tipping point to turning point, and a percentage is a pledge anyone can make.

  • Where it goes

All funding goes into one pooled fund to support initiatives that deliver positive results for the ocean. To date we have supported 75+ ocean organisations, as well as films as part of our work to reframe ocean perception. We are particularly proud to be the Founding Producer and Executive Director of Ocean with David Attenborough, which has been instrumental as a catalyst for global policy, philanthropy, and public engagement.

Grants are directed by our expert investment committee, advised by world-leading scientists.

  • Why your money goes further

We do the issue mapping, relationship-building and due-diligence, so your money gets to where it is most needed without lag, duplication or overhead. At 10% for the Ocean we are results-obsessed and our workstreams consist of mutually reinforcing initiatives for maximum impact. Operating globally enables us to synchronise local and international efforts and achieve a magnitude few single donors could deliver.
